Process Safety Program PHA
EEI delivered a Process Safety Management - Process Hazard Analysis for a facility in Austria utilizing a local expert working under the supervision of EEI’s QC manager. The HAZOP study is an interactive Q&A process for identifying possible risk issues; EEI personnel work with the facility employees to facilitate their understanding of going through such a “what-if” analysis. The final report was provided in English and in German for all parties. While the facility is in Austria, both U.S. Process Safety Management guidelines as well as European Union guidelines were applied. Hazardous operation considerations included the following, per the client’s request:
- The HAZOP Team Leader and the HAZOP secretary must work together to ensure accurate documentation of the effort.
- It is important that a process/mixer operator and a maintenance mechanic be part of the team as they are the persons actually working with the equipment and can provide valuable input on how it actually works.
- The process and instrumentation diagrams for the solvent adhesive production room have been updated and should be used as the primary resource.
Process Safety Program Training
EEI conducted two courses for H.B. Fuller’s Latin American facilities. The first course was a two-day training course in the 14 elements of the Process Safety Management program in Spanish for approximately 21 attendees, including facility managers, facility engineers, and EHS managers. This training was held at their San Jose, Costa Rica facility and the audience came from various Latin American facilities. The second course was a two-day training course in hazard analysis techniques (focusing on HAZOP), in Spanish, for approximately 15 attendees including facility engineers and EHS Managers This training was also conducted in San Jose, Costa Rica and attendees came from multiple Latin American facilities.
