Client :
General Motors of USA
GM Global Headquarters, 300 Renaissance Center,
Detroit, Michigan 48265-3000
Mr. David Aldorfer (313) 665-3746 (retired)

Period of Performance 2003

EEI provided ESH audit services to provide a baseline assessment of existing programs in place, as well as audit protocols, for their South Korea operations after GM purchased the Daewoo Motor Corporation.

EEI personnel and the client’s representative conducted an initial reconnaissance visit in January to prepare and customize the three-week baseline audit that was to be conducted. Based on observations made during the reconnaissance visit, the audit plan was finalized.

A team of four auditors was on site for three continuous weeks to review every aspect of the plant’s EHS program, not just for regulatory compliance against local Korea legal requirements, but also against GM’s corporate risk management requirements. The audit involved another step to determine if the processes in place could identify early signs of non-compliance or liability.

In preparing the final report, GM’s methods of analysis, risk ranking, and report formats were used. In the audit, EEI covered all three former Daewoo facilities in Korea.

EEI provided a comprehensive ESH program assessment for the Cabot Corporation facility in Belgium and in Italy. A team of two Environmental and Safety & Health experts local to Belgium and Italy worked with client audit team leader to review the facility compliance with national and regional requirements. As a part of the audit preparation, we reviewed the 2002 ENSR audit protocol and had it updated with the most current S&H laws and regulations of 2005/6. The following year, the audit program became more internal and Cabot continues to utilizes EEI protocols for many of the audits.
